Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional educational experiences tailored to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across various school sites within the Chattanooga region. As caseloads and age groups are being finalized by the district, adaptability and collaboration will be essential.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Valid and active Department of Education teaching certification is required
- Specialized training or experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or similar background
- Understanding of best practices in supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an academic setting
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in accommodating diverse learning needs
- Commitment to completing required background checks, including fingerprinting
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction and educational support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to foster student engagement and achievement
- Travel between assigned campuses as needed based on caseload
- Collect data, communicate progress, and advocate for student needs
